ORCID
Centrální registr spravuje nezisková organizace ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID). Jako jediný umožňuje propojení s ResearcherID i Scopus Author ID.
ResearcherID (RID)
Provázán s autorským profilem v databázi Web of Science. Po výběru publikací umožňuje sledovat citační metriky.
Scopus Author ID
Vzniká automaticky při vytváření záznamů v databázi Scopus. Autor si ho sám nevytváří.
Identifikátory na FSS
Dle 33. zápisu z porady vedení ze dne 14. 5. 2019 si mají všechny publikující osoby na fakultě včetně studujících doktorského studia založit, zaktualizovat a propojit identifikátory vědce (ORCID, ResearcherID, Scopus Author ID).

1Založení profilu ORCID
Postup je popsán v Informačním systému Masarykovy univerzity v sekci Publikace.
Integrace ORCID a IS MU: udělte souhlas se správou profilu MU. Na základě toho dochází k přenosu informací z IS do ORCID – afiliace, pracovní pozice, studia a publikace/další výsledky. Silně doporučujeme nastavit automatický přenos publikací.
V profilu ORCID vyplňte (vše v angličtině):
- Also known as – jméno s diakritikou, případně rodné příjmení s diakritikou i bez.
- Country – země aktuálního působení (výzkum, výuka), případně předchozí pracoviště.
- Keywords – klíčová slova vystihující vědeckou činnost.
- Websites – odkaz na anglickou verzi stránek katedry, fakulty, případně oborové stránky.
- Other IDs – propojení s ResearcherID a Scopus Author ID.
E-mailová adresa není vyžadována, lze ji nastavit jako neveřejnou.
2Založení ResearcherID (RID)
Pokud máte publikace indexované ve Web of Science, založte si také identifikátor RID. Otevřete stránky WoS a v Search → Researchers ověřte, zda máte publikace. Pokud ano, klikněte vpravo nahoře na Register.
Při registraci zadávejte jméno a příjmení bez diakritiky. Mimo univerzitní síť je nutné nastavit vzdálený přístup.
Do profilu vkládejte pouze publikace z WoS, dále personální údaje a afiliaci.
- Profile → My research profile → Edit – vyplňte First Name a Last Name bez diakritiky. Nechte zatrhnuté Display Published Names.
- Primary Organization → zadejte Masaryk University (MU), Faculty of Social Studies. Nechte zatrhnuté Display Organizational History. Záznam uložte.
- Vložte publikace z WoS přes Profile → My records → Publications → Add.
Hotový autorský profil WoS obsahuje: personální údaje, afiliaci, identifikátory RID a ORCID, publikace z WoS.
3Propojení RID s ORCID
Ve WoS přes Profile → My Research Profile zvolte v menu třetí záložku → ORCID Syncing a povolte přenos RID do ORCID.
4Propojení Scopus Author ID s ORCID
5Vložení identifikátorů do IS MU
Kódy RID a Scopus Author ID (pokud máte publikace ve WoS / Scopus) vložte do IS MU → sekce Publikace → Osobní identifikátory (sloupec vpravo). ORCID bude po udělení souhlasu MU vložen automaticky.
Mám založené požadované identifikátory
Každý akademický pracovník*ce / publikující PhD student*ka bude mít založený profil ORCID. Pokud již máte publikace v databázi Web of Science, vytvořte si i autorský profil v této databázi — identifikátor ResearcherID.
Propojte ORCID s profily RID a Scopus Author ID.
Kódy RID a Scopus Author ID vložte do IS MU → sekce Publikace → Osobní identifikátory. ORCID je vložen automaticky.
Why do you need identifiers?
For any researcher, it is very important to be connected to their publications and research and to be distinguished from other researchers. It is not always easy to identify researchers by name due to common names, different name formats, name changes through marriage, etc. Therefore, the best way to identify a researcher is to use persistent identifiers.
This is essential for:
- evaluation of science and research (data is transferred, e.g. from IS to RIV),
- obtaining grants (e.g. recommended by GAČR),
- meeting publisher requirements when accepting an article (Wiley, Sage, etc.).
The three most commonly used identifiers
ORCID
Central registry managed by the non-profit organisation ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID). The only identifier that allows linking with both ResearcherID and Scopus Author ID.
ResearcherID (RID)
Linked to the author profile in Web of Science. After selecting publications, authors can monitor citation metrics.
Scopus Author ID
Created automatically when records are added to Scopus. The author does not create it themselves.
Researcher identifiers at FSS
According to the 33rd management meeting of 14 May 2019, all publishing staff of the faculty, including doctoral students, must create, update and link their researcher identifiers (ORCID, ResearcherID, Scopus Author ID).

1Creating an ORCID profile
Full instructions are available in the Information System of Masaryk University, Publications section.
Integration of ORCID with IS MU: grant MU permission to manage your profile. Based on this consent, information is transferred from IS to ORCID — affiliations, work positions, studies and publications. We strongly recommend setting up automatic transfer of publications.
In your ORCID profile fill in:
- Also known as — your name with diacritics, maiden surname with and without diacritics.
- Country — country of current activity (research, teaching) or previous workplace.
- Keywords — keywords describing your scientific activity.
- Websites — link to the department/faculty website or other professional pages.
- Other IDs — linking to ResearcherID and Scopus Author ID.
Email is not required and can be set as private.
2Creating ResearcherID (RID)
If you have publications indexed in Web of Science, create the RID identifier as well. Open the WoS website and check whether you have publications via Search → Researchers. If so, click Register in the upper-right corner.
When registering, enter your first and last name without diacritics. Outside the university network, set up remote access first.
Add only WoS publications, personal data and affiliation to the profile.
Procedure (everything in the left column after clicking Open Menu):
- Profile → My research profile → Edit — fill in First Name and Last Name without diacritics. Keep Display Published Names ticked.
- Primary Organization → enter Masaryk University (MU), Faculty of Social Studies. Keep Display Organizational History ticked. Save.
- Add WoS publications via Profile → My records → Publications → Add. In Suggested publications, WoS tries to find your publications. If none appear, find them by DOI, title or Web of Science accession number in Add publications by identifier.
The completed WoS author profile contains: personal data, affiliation, RID and ORCID identifiers, publications from WoS.
3Linking RID with ORCID
In WoS go to Profile → My Research Profile, choose the third tab → ORCID Syncing and enable the transfer of RID to ORCID.
4Linking Scopus Author ID with ORCID
On the Scopus website, use Author search to find your name. If documents are found, check whether they really are your publication results.
After verifying the documents, click Connect to ORCID (at the top of the page). Follow the offered steps (about 6 clicks).
Your Scopus ID should then appear on the ORCID platform in Other IDs in the left column. If you do not have any publications in Scopus, skip this step.
5Adding identifiers to IS MU (if you have publications in WoS / Scopus)
Enter RID and Scopus Author ID codes in IS MU → Publications → Personal identifiers (right column). ORCID will be inserted automatically after granting consent to MU.
I already have identifiers
Every academic staff member/publishing PhD student must have an ORCID profile. If you already have publications in Web of Science, also create an author profile there — the ResearcherID. If your publications are indexed in Scopus, check and link your Scopus ID, which is generated automatically.
If your profiles are private, make them public. Update data so that the RID profile contains: personal data, affiliation, ORCID identifier and publications from WoS.
Set up your ORCID profile and allow MU to manage your profile, see the Getting Started section for more information.
Enter the codes of RID and Scopus Author ID in IS MU → Publications → Personal identifiers. ORCID is inserted automatically.
